Managed Cloud Server is the next-gen iteration of Managed VPS – it’s everything that made Managed VPS simple but powerful to use, with AWS and Google Cloud to supercharge the product line-up.
The alttrixcloudCloud server spec has been adjusted to it easier for end customers to compare against AWS and Google Cloud and offers a value alternative to the big names.
AWS and Google Cloud are recognised providers with a high degree of brand trust. We wanted to let Resellers offer those solutions to customers, without having to manage the complexities that come with direct server admin, and whilst being able to continue to manage sites directly through Myalttrixcloud just like you do with any other site you host with alttrixcloud. These providers also offer global locations, which we support.
In terms of the difference between Managed VPS and alttrixcloudCloud, the two products are based on the same physical hardware, but with slightly different features/offerings. alttrixcloudCloud is a refresh of the Managed VPS stack from a performance point of view, and there are new optimisation profiles available. The performance from the actual hardware is identical; however, MySQL now runs locally on the server for the new alttrixcloudCloud/AWS/GCP products. This will increase performance, but means local server resources are now used/consumed by MySQL as well as the web server. For specific, resource-intensive sites, they will see better performance on alttrixcloudCloud long as the server spec is appropriate for the website size.
We encourage Resellers to begin selling alttrixcloudCloud ahead of Managed VPS due to the new features and additional options/providers/locations available, but there's no need to actively migrate customers from Managed VPS unless you want to make the change.
